This is the place where you find the MIDI files you've been looking for.
I just place MIDIs here which I programmed by myself.
The sound appearance is definitely depending on the hardware you're using. In some aspects I think WAVE TABLE sound does not give best results in all cases. The single instrument is normally more realistic, but the summary of all instruments is sometimes not satisfying. But generally a good Wavetable system like the Creative LabsTM Soundblaster AWE 64 or better give the most fun (depending on drivers, which is not guaranteed with Windows 2000 or XP).
Soundfonts for better Soundcards are a good thing but not easy to handle...
Thank god if you have a good keyboard; this is still much better than the best sound card. I am using the YAMAHA PSR 530 and the SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum.
Also I made the experience that the loudness of single instruments vary from instrument to instrument or soundcard to soundcard. If you own a sequencer you can easily adapt the level to your personal needs and preferences. I'm
working with Cakewalk Home Studio 9.

I'm starting to add a SysEx
(System Exclusive Messages)
to the beginning of a the files.
The meaning is "Turn GM (General MIDI) On" and it's used to reset all controllers to the start value.
